Adirondack Snow
I have had a great time working in the Goddard Partridge Printmaking studio over the last 3 months. The whole process reminds me of the photographic darkroom, the excitement that I felt when the print appeared in the developing tray. Pulling the print off of the plate on the press bed is very similar, seeing the print emerge before your eyes when you slowly pull the paper off of the plate.
I also experimented with toning the black ink to create more warm colors for the imagery, just like different black & white printing papers. Additionally, I hand colored the Arches paper after the prints had dried and it has a great surface to work on. It was a challenge to hand color each print the same so that they could stand as an edition of prints.
I hope that you enjoy my show at the Providence Art Club. Feel free to ask me any questions! You can see the previous blog entry, showing more detail and some images describing the Solar Plate process.
